Jordan Scaling-up Renewables

Jordan plans to increase the country’s renewable energy capacity to 2,400MW by 2021, says Hala Zawati, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources. This would increase the contribution of renewable from 11% of the total energy requirement to 20%. This is expected as a result of several solar power projects across the country.

For so long women have represented the symbol of resilience. In the water sector they are no different. In the Middle East and North Africa, the world’s most water-stressed region, women are playing their part in protecting water and fighting water scarcity. 

This project was initiated during the CMI’s World Water Day Youth Workshop: Nature-based Solutions for a Water Secure Mediterranean.

World Water Week is the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. It is organized by SIWI. In 2019, World Water Week will address the theme “Water for society – Including all”. In 2018, over 3,300 individuals and around 380 convening organizations from 135 countries participated in the Week.
