Water interconnectedness

with Agustín Ortiz and Rosa Llop

Overview

In this second episode, we have invited the artists Agustín Ortiz and Rosa Llop to ask ourselves how the current rhythms of life have led us to disconnect from nature and its cycles. Nature has times that often do not fit with the rhythms of our societies. That disconnection often leads us to fail to see the interconnectedness of today’s environmental challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, or water management. Everything is linked and moves at different times than the clocks.

Agustín and Rosa have participated in the first and second editions respectively of the artistic residency ECOTONS, promoted by CREAF, a public research center dedicated to terrestrial ecology and territorial analysis and member of AMWAJ.

The ecotons are transition zones between different ecological communities, somewhat marginal places where different realities come into contact, where tensions arise but also unexpected fertility. CREAF and the resident artists have followed this common thread to work on different proposals and ideas around art and science.

Her main research is the study of the agency of co-creation practices as a tool for exploring the problem space. Under this question she has developed a methodological toolbox called Entrepensar, understanding the actions of Entrepensamiento as a situated tool to explore, understand and question reality collectively, generating knowledge through the use of artistic languages. The development of the Entrepensar methodology has obtained the following institutional support: OSIC Grant for research and innovation in the fields of arts and innovation 2020 and 2022 and Barcelona Crea 2022 Grant, ICUB. Rosa Llop is currently artist-in-residence at Hangar in the framework of the Espacios C program mediated by ICUB, the Consortium of Education and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
