Drought is already one of the 4 most critical natural hazards in Southwest Europe

As a recurrent and extreme phenomenon, droughts are difficult to predict, with high spatial and temporal variability. Together with floods, fires and soil degradation, drought and its consequences is one of the 4 most critical natural hazards in the mountain forests of Southwest Europe. This is one of the main conclusions of the SUDOE MONTCLIMA project, in which CREAF takes part. Get to know more about this project in the article!

Our dependency on water is challenging food security in the most water-scarce region of the Middle East and North Africa – a dry and arid region struggling to meet growing water demand, especially for agriculture. Recycling water is, therefore, key to close the water supply-demand gap in the Middle East and North Africa.
