AMWAJ supports the Jibal Solidarity Fund in Lebanon

From end of September until end of November 2024, Israel has immensely escalated the war on Lebanon expelling 1.2 million people (more than 20% of the population) out of their homes, and levelling to ground many villages and cities across the country. This includes a vast majority of people who are not members of any militia or army, women, children, men, young and old, of all religions, genders, and political affiliations. The Israeli army has also bombed agricultural lands with white phosphorus for over a year, bombing urban areas with depleted uranium, hitting key farming areas like southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley, damaging farmlands, crops, and water systems used for irrigation. Many farmers have lost their land or been forced to leave, while others can no longer sell their produce due to the disruption of the food chain.

Jibal is a Lebanese NGO that focuses in its work on the promotion of people’s sovereignty over their land and their food by collaborating with local farmers, producers and initiatives Jibal has also contributed to the integration of sustainable living in children’s education through workshop creation and training of educators to deliver them. Since the beginning of the war’s escalation, Jibal’s team has been supporting relief efforts, by coordinating between many initiatives in Lebanon’s ecosystem and being present on the ground to ensure shelters have proper infrastructures to host the displaced families. In October 2024, Jibal launched it Jibal Solidarity Fund to collect funds for its efforts.

In order for Jibal to continue its work and adapt it to the current challenges Lebanon is facing, AMWAJ is inviting its community, to join us in our efforts.. By donating to our crowdfunding campaign you will be supporting Jibal in:
